Where our Community

Takes Root

The Pantry Garden

Our pantry garden began with a simple goal: to grow fresh, healthy food to support the Weymouth Food Pantry. But over the years, we've learned that we are cultivating something far more profound than produce.

This garden connects our neighbors to their food source, showing them how easy urban gardening can be and giving them a tangible link to the food they take home to their families. But the most important impact is the unspoken message behind the work itself. As one volunteer observed, the moment a pantry guest realized the community was willing to build and tend this garden for them meant more than any vegetable ever could. It is a living symbol of care, a place where people can gather, and a testament to the idea that communities can take care of each other.

“We're trying to empower the people of this region to be more food independent, to grow more locally and to enjoy the process.”

HOW IT WORKS

Our Home Delivery Program combines the power of dedicated volunteers with modern technology to serve our homebound neighbors efficiently and reliably.

A Community Partnership

The garden is a joint venture between the Weymouth Food Pantry and the Old South Union Church, which generously provides the land for the garden to flourish. The project is made possible through the dedicated sponsorship of South Shore Food Bank.

What We Grow in
the garden

We focus on a variety of culturally relevant herbs and vegetables that our neighbors will enjoy, including beans, carrots, onions, tomatoes, and peppers.

POWERED BY
OUR VOLUNTEERS

The garden is run by a dedicated, intergenerational team of volunteers known as "Garden Angels," from high school students to experienced master gardeners, all working side-by-side.
